Week of November 12th

It was nice to be back together again after Camp Edwards!  I think everyone enjoyed sharing their experience on Tuesday and we enjoyed listening!

Next week our 4th graders will be going to the Frank Lloyd Wright Museum.  We will be walking there on Wednesday so please make sure your 4th grader is dressed appropriatly.  We will have a bus if it is raining.  Our 5th graders will stay back at Whittier with Mrs. Madsen.

Have a wonderful week-end!

Reading: In reading this week we have learned about point of view.  We discussed 1st person, 2nd person, and 3rd person point of view.  Today we read short excerpts from different Roald Dahl stories in groups and wrote about the point of view.

Writing:  We have continued to work on our expository stories.  We will be finishing them next week so look out for writing the final drafts!

4th Grade Math:  We have worked on area/perimeter and now moved on to multiplication.  We have used the place value chart to help us understand x10, x100, x1000.  Please help your students continue to practice their math facts.

Science:  In science we continued our Electricity unit.  We learned looked at using one battery to light two light bulbs and learned that it can work but the bulbs were dim.  When we used two bulbs and two batteries the bulbs were much brighter.
