Congrats to all the kids who performed in the orchestra concert and the Talent Show this week! We also had a beautiful Memorial Day service on Thursday; our chorus and band members did a wonderful job performing in that as well. Next week we have no school Monday, Olympic Day Tuesday, Honor's Assembly Wednesday, Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Playground Thursday, and the last day of school on Friday- it'll be a full week!
Reading: We read Lon Po Po, a Chinese version of Little Red Riding Hood this week. Then the students received their own versions of Little Red Riding Hood from all over the world. Their task was to compare the two versions. Ask your kids about what they read!
Writing: The kids have finished their writing and illustrations for their Fairy Tales. Now they're recording their voices to the illustrations in iMovie. You'll get to see their movies next week when I am able to post them on our site- they're turning out great!!. Ask your kids what story they've rewritten, and how their movie-making is going.
4th Grade Math:
We wrapped up map this week with a review of area. Students practiced counting area using square grids, as well as solving the area using the formula. They did a great job!
Science: We did a few short experiments this week to test variables, including more on pendulums. We also used a computer program to test the variables for a Human Cannonball, linked to our curriculum. The kids had a blast (pardon the pun!) changing weight, wind, angle, etc to get the human safely into the net!
