The final Hubbard Street Share will be held on Tuesday, February 26th from
9:30-10:45. All are welcome at the share, so if you're available, please
join us on the 26th in the auditorium!
Reading: We reached (what many consider to be) the saddest part of Edward Tulane! Your children have taken advantage of this read-aloud opportunity by putting their best effort forth in their response work and in our discussions. I'm proud of the sophistication with which they've shared this book together. Next week we'll wrap up the novel as a class- and school. As you read Edward Tulane at home, ask your kids about our discussions at school. Why does the author choose to write from 3rd person? Which character is favorite/ most like you/ most striking? Why?
Writing: The kids' next writing piece needs to either inform or persuade. They've worked on their rough drafts this week and I've enjoyed conferencing with them as they write. Their rough drafts are due on Tuesday. Ask them about their new topic and genre.

4th Grade Math: This week was spent on a mix of Unit 6 practice (division) and ISAT review. We specifically worked on area, perimeter and volume this week. We'll continue to balance the two next week, reviewing concepts like fractions, angles, lines and rays. The kids have a "Bonus Study Island" assignment this weekend. If they complete all four categories, they'll earn a homework pass. This is to encourage them to continue to review.

Science: We began studying our 2nd system in the Human Body: the muscular system. Again they are practicing note-taking skills while I use a power point to introduce the new information. Ask your kids about the difference between voluntary and involuntary muscles.
