Reading: We spent most of our reading blocks on PARCC testing. As I mentioned in my email, our kiddos worked really hard this week. I was proud of their concentration and determination. I look forward to a fresh start next week with some fun, new material to dive into! Ask your kids what they most like to read- why? When/ what do they feel most proud reading?
Writing: We wrapped up excellent presentations from our mini-research projects. Our presenters loved using the podium! They were relaxed, knowledgeable and confident. It was fun to learn about all of the different topics. Ask your child how their presentation went; what did they learn from a classmate?
Roots: Greek and Latin Roots will resume after PARCC testing.
4th Grade Math: We had a very short math class this week to learn how to use a protractor. Everyone had a lot of fun using one of the school supplies that has been in their desk since August! We will start our new math unit on Monday.
Social Studies: This week we kicked off a race in our classroom! We spent our class time writing letters to schools in all of the 50 states plus Washington, DC. Each student wrote to two states and a few students paired up for a third state. They found a school to write to and sent our class survey to them. If students didn't finish their letter, it will be homework next week. The race is now on to see who hears back from their school first! We will keep you updated! Ask your child which states they wrote to for The Great Mail Race!
Current Events : We will be taking two weeks off of current events and will start again after the PARCC tests.
Science: Our students are with Mrs. Darley this trimester for Magnetism and Electricity. They are enjoying their work with magnets, batteries, wires, switches, lightbulbs, etc, as they learn the properties of magnetism and electricity. Updates will be sent as received from her regarding tests or projects. Ask your kids about what they did this week!
Growth/Fixed Mindset: We will continue this next week.
