5th Grade Math: Check out Ms. Wennerberg's website and newsletter for updates: http://www.op97.org/swennerberg/
Writing: Our last project of the year is a light, fun, independent research project. Students chose a topic and we narrowed the topic to one question. They'll spend next week assembling it to present. There are quite a few topics! They're interested in everything from pit bulls and angler fish to money and bubble gum. Ask your student what s/he chose!
Social Studies: Check out Ms. Wennerberg's website and newsletter for updates: http://www.op97.org/swennerberg/
Science: Ask your kids about the stream tables we've been using as part of our Land and Water unit. We're having fun learning about the impact of water on land; thus far we've observed the effects of light and heavy rain, hot air mixing with cold air, and streams. They're by-far the messiest science we've engaged in this year!!
Miscellaneous:
- Please check your homes this weekend for classroom books and send them back to school with your children next week. Thanks!
- Our Coins for Construction fundraiser continues through next Wednesday, May 23. That gives you three more days to bring in money to support Horizon de l'Espoir, an orphanage in Haiti. There is a box in each classroom for the collection. Thanks for your support!
- Order a school supply kit for the fall! You will support Whittier and a local business!
Green Home Experts is partnering with Whittier School to provide school supply kits for the 2012-2013 school year. 10% of the total sales will benefit Whittier. See the link on the Whittier PTO website for complete details as well as an order form.
